MARCO E. DIZON
Composer| Musician | Pianist | Acoustics
(“Music is the reflection of your soul”)
Marco Estabillo Dizon was born 1969,Yokusuka,
Japan. He came from a Filipino family with
a strong musical background. He started piano
at the age of 7 years old. His instructor’s
name was Mr. Abas. He received the “Best
Student Award” and various certificates
of achievement.
At the age 8, He had performed for the Great
famous pianist "Van Cliburn" himself
along with his numberous audiences at the
Northwoods Mall area. His second piano teacher
Fred Sabbach recommended him to Professors
Charles and Rumaine to take lesson with them
at the College of Charleston at the age of
13. In 1994, He pursued classical and Flamenco
guitar playing at age 14 and started to compose.
At 18, He started to play in high school Heavy
Metal bands and pursed playing the piano again.
He also won the state guitar competition at
Manning, South Carolina in 1991.
Despite his rich musical background, Marco
had never majored in Music but decided to
try a diffrent field like Communication Arts
, Printing,and Broadcasting at the Trident
College. As a student, Marco came across a
producer named Samuel T. Whatley. He was asked
to compose an old classical theme rag piano
style for one of his puppeteer skits. As he
finished a deadline within 3 days. SamWhatley
Production had hired him. In 1994, He had
worked in a production called”SamWhatley
Production.”
He was the composer for the children’s
video called “Bubble Blast.”
Had written background music for a radio show
called “High Noon.”
He also composed a piece for the" Lundell
Project" demo video.
Finally, he composed music for a video that
was going to be released in MTV video festival
called “The Existence of Man”.
In 1995, He performed at a commercial for
Keys to Music. He was playing one of his Broadway
Jazz compositions called” The Waning
Moontide.” The production was called
Osprey Productions. He performed at the Fil-Am
Community show and awarded "Best Showmanship
Award".
In 1996, played piano and composed for many
weddings and receptions for the Church of
Christ. That same year, he composed a guitar
solo for a theater script to promote “Flagstone
Jeans.” The producer of the skit was
well known playwrite of the East Coast Region
named Lou White. In 1997, He was chosen by
Charleston Place Hotels Marketing Manager
to play at the lounge part time and also for
wedding receptions at the banquet floor he
also won a $100 1st prize for the companies
talent show. 6/1/00, He played all his arranged
pieces at the Charleston River Dogs Stadium
promoting a lawfirm Company all season.
When Marco moved to the D.C. Metropolitan
area in October 2000. As He lost all connections
from Charleston South Carolina along with
all promoters and musicians and was forced
to work hard due to higher expenses in the
city. Never practiced piano for 4 years nor
bought one until 2005 when he was inspired
with Latin Jazz, Cumba, Salsa, Bosa Nova.
It was a gradual inspiration for him from
the previous friends he met back in 2001:
One was a Paraguaian Guitarist, Ceasar, whom
he made several apperances at the Kennedy
Center; French Jazz composer Bernard ; the
Carnige Hall performer, Classical Guitarist,
Bernadette. He started to compose again but
with a South American and smooth jazz flavor.
He is now back in his feet with "Nightmoves"
performing as a pianist.
